Dry Wall Stone Masonry

   Presenter:  Mr Fritz Schuckmann

Born in west Germany in 1949 Fritz studied Architecture before immigrating to Australia in 1982. Fritz’s passion for design and his interest in the use of natural materials led him to commence stone masonry, first as an interest, but later as a full time pursuit. Fritz has been based on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland for many years where he has been commissioned to contract a variety of house and landscape projects. More recently, Fritz was invited to be part of the masonry team that worked on the feature entrance wall to the RM Williams Centre in Eidsvold, working alongside RM’s sons, Peter & Elvis Williams to create the first stage of the many masonry projects that will honour the memory of Eidsvold’s most famous resident.

Duration:  2 Days (8 hour working days)

Dates:  Course dates will be confirmed once class numbers have been achieved (8 people per class). Course dates may be one or more of the  following:  10-11 December, 2011  /  28-29 January, 2012  /  17-18 March, 2012  

Description:  This 2 day course will teach participants how to build their own rockwork projects starting from the very beginning.

Silver Chain Link Jewellery Making

Presenter:  Mrs Lorraine Lindenmayer

Lorraine was born in Mundubbera and has lived almost all her life in the Mundubbera/Eidsvold area. Heavily involved in outdoor work on the family cattle property, Lorraine is usually mustering and managing the property beside her husband, son and daughter-in-law.  After the accidental attendance of a Silversmithing workshop, Lorraine was instantly drawn to jewellery making. To further her knowledge in this field, she attended more workshops and collected endless information through other avenues and learnt from experimenting. Lorraine's passion is designing original chain/bracelet patterns. It is the unexpected outcome of what can be created from precious metal and its texture that continues to provide inspiration for her work. Eager to learn and strive to improve skills to share with others, Lorraine aims for her students to become creative and develop their own personal skills. Lorraine prides herself in creating jewellery that cannot be purchased anywhere else.

Duration: 1 day (8 hour working day) - 9am-5pm.

Dates:  Course dates will be confirmed once class numbers have been achieved (6 people per class). Course dates may be one or more of the following: 11 February, 2012  /  17 March, 2012  /  21 April, 2012

Description: This one day course will teach participants the skills of chain link silver jewellery making.

Whip Making - 4 Plait

Presenter: Chris & Kerry Barr of Dead Ringer Leatherworks.

Chris & Kerry’s passion for leather work across a broad range of leather goods and their interest in the use of all things leather have led them to their career in leather craft, first as an interest but later as a full time business. Based at Kantaka Station for many years, they use the station as home base for the business and to travel around Australia teaching others their unique skills. Winners of eight Australian Championship Titles & current Australian Champions: 2 Dame Mary Durack Outback Craft Awards, Trappings Of Texas-Best Of Show, Showcase of excellence-Sydney Royal with each entry + many more, Chris in considered to be one of the best whip makers who has ever lived, his expertise & art is sought after globally. Chris & Kerry’s students are very successful, having all students who have completed, placed or won at the Australian Plaiting Championships with their first entry.

Duration: 2 Days (8-10 hour working day)

Dates: Course dates will be confirmed once class numbers have been achieved (12 people per class). Course dates may be one or more of the following: 17-18 December, 2011  /  4-5 February, 2012  /  17-18 March, 2012

Description: This workshop will teach participants the craft of 4 plait whip making.
